Scout Basics

Basic Principles of Scouting

A SCOUT IS…

Trustworthy

Loyal

Helpful

Friendly

Courteous

Kind

Obedient

Cheerful

Thrifty

Brave

Clean

Reverent

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

“Be prepared.”

“Be prepared” means to be ready for any big or small situation that happens in one’s life by knowing what to do when certain circumstances come.

“Do a good turn daily.”

Doing a good turn daily means to do something good for the community and help others whenever you get the opportunity, without necessarily expecting something in return.

As an American, I will do my best to –
Be clean in my outdoor manners.
Be careful with fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors.
Be conservation minded.
